We are proud to announce the Sunshine Cinema Scholarship, which will cover the full tuition fees for SAE’s full-time Higher Certificate in Film Production at the SAE Institute in Woodstock, Cape Town.

About the Sunshine Cinema Scholarship

Sunshine Cinema is a solar powered mobile cinema that converts solar energy into social impact. We take compelling and carefully curated content to a diverse array of communities across Southern Africa and beyond.

We are driven by a strong desire to create communal cinema experiences that act as a catalyst for dialogue, deep listening and ultimately positive social and environmental change. Sunshine Cinema isn’t just a mobile movie theater. We are an ethically-minded media company that produces films and virtual reality segments with meaningful messages. To do this we partner with socially and environmentally conscious individuals and organisations to create compelling content that serves as advocacy tools. Our production company Makhulu is apprenticeship based, offering on the job practical training for passionate up and coming filmmakers.

We are proud to be partnering with SAE to offer this scholarship, as we are firm believers in strengthening the local industry to ensure more diverse voices from the continent are heard.

How To Apply

The scholarship is open to all South African citizens and all candidates must hold a Grade 12 certificate. The scholarship is only valid for the July 2018 study intake. Candidates will be responsible for all living and travel expenses should they come from outside of Cape Town.

In order to apply for the scholarship, candidates must complete the application form, we will then send you a follow up e-mail detailing the next steps to complete your application. Sunshine Cinema will make the final decision on who the successful candidate will be.
